Johannesburg, South Africa – Composers, Authors and Publishers Association NPC (CAPASSO) is pleased to announce that submissions are now open for the next cycle of its Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Initiative.
Following the success of its inaugural CSI Programme, which supported ten recipients across the four pillars in which it is centered namely; Educational, Events, Women in Music specialised projects and Community benefiting projects, CAPASSO now invites its members to submit proposals for consideration in this new round of funding.
Speaking on the opening of this year’s call for entries, CAPASSO CEO Jotam Matariro said: “Our first CSI cycle showed us the impact that focused, community-led investment can have across the music industry. We are energised by what our members achieved and are excited to open the door once again for new proposals. We encourage our members to come forward with projects that reflect the spirit of education, empowerment and growth that this initiative was built on.”
This year’s call for entries is guided by the following focus areas:
• Education: Providing access to essential knowledge, skills and resources for aspiring and established music professionals, including workshops, training programmes and educational initiatives.
• Empowering: Creating opportunities for creatives to develop their talents, build sustainable careers and gain greater control over their artistic and professional journeys, including mentorship programmes and access to funding for creative projects.
• Fostering Growth: Contributing to the overall development and sustainability of the music industry by investing in infrastructure, innovation and community-building efforts, including industry events, research and collaborative platforms.
HOW DOES ONE BECOME PART OF THE CAPASSO CSI INITIATIVE?
Potential recipients are required to send through detailed proposals outlining what their projects are, why they need assistance and how they will use the funding. Individual grants of up to a maximum of R200 000 per project will be considered. Successful recipients will be required to publicise the partnership and, thereafter, submit receipts and a detailed report on how the allocated funding was utilised.
Proposals considered for funding need to focus on one of the following pillars:
• Educational – music workshops, educational courses offering certification upon attendance, or specialised institutional training that can benefit the industry at large.
• Events – music festivals, shows or other events where tickets are sold for access.
• Women in Music specialised projects.
• Community-benefiting projects that are not necessarily tied to music but uplift a previously disadvantaged community.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO SUBMIT A PROPOSAL?
• Be a CAPASSO member, whether as a direct composer or represented/administered by one of our publisher members. Publishers may also submit a proposal directly.
• Earn at least R350 in royalties as a member.
• Be based in South Africa.
• Disclose any other forms of funding received for the proposed project.
HOW AND WHERE DO I SUBMIT?
Interested members are requested to submit their proposals by completing the application form and attaching the full proposal to csi@capasso.co.za by 24 July 2026. Given the shorter submission window this year, members are encouraged to prepare and submit their proposals as early as possible. Successful applicants will be contacted directly and taken through the next steps.
The CSI Initiative remains independent of CAPASSO’s daily operations and continues to be overseen by an independent CSI Committee made up of industry leaders, who are responsible for reviewing proposals and appointing recipients. The initiative reflects CAPASSO’s ongoing commitment to ploughing back into the creators and communities who play an integral part in creating and consuming music, as well as its commitment to fostering education, empowering, supporting and growing the creative industry and community.
Please keep an eye on CAPASSO’s social media pages for updates. CAPASSO looks forward to walking this journey with our members and the broader community.

ABOUT CAPASSO
When CAPASSO was formed eleven years ago, the main goal was to enable African countries to be represented by an organisation acting on behalf of its rights owners — an organisation holding a group of rights, predominantly mechanical rights, and able to license and ensure that the world recognises the African excellence we are able to produce. Through the strengthening of relationships across the industry, CAPASSO continues to build on this foundation.
