JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA – CAPASSO (Composers, Authors and Publishers Association) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Lerato Matsoso as the General Manager Operations, effective 1 July 2025. Ms. Matsoso, who previously served as Head of Stakeholder Relations, will now oversee all organizational operations, reporting directly to the CEO.

Lerato Matsoso is a familiar and highly respected executive within the cultural creative and media industry, having previously worked as an Entertainment Editor for two national publications. Lerato joined the CAPASSO team in 2021 as Stakeholder Relations Manager before being promoted to Head of Stakeholder Relations in 2023.

During her tenure as Stakeholder Relations Manager, Ms. Matsoso played a pivotal role in the significant growth of CAPASSO’s membership, which expanded from 7,000 to an impressive 12,000 members under her dedicated leadership. Her deep understanding of the music industry, and her commitment to fostering strong relationships with stakeholders have been instrumental in this success.

Her extensive experience in musical works documentation, distribution of royalties, proven leadership, and unwavering dedication to our members make her the ideal candidate to lead CAPASSO’s operations going forward.

In her new role, Lerato will be responsible for the day-to-day management of CAPASSO’s operations, focusing on enhancing efficiency in licensing and royalty distribution, and ensuring the continued growth and success of the organization. Supporting the local music eco system, enhancing global relationships with streaming platforms and rightsholders and partnering with the government on legislative reform will be a key focus for CAPASSO going forward. She is given the responsibility to make sure this is achieved.

Matsoso expressed her enthusiasm for her new role, stating, “I am incredibly honoured and excited to take on the position of General Manager Operations at CAPASSO.
